OUR STORY
ABOUT
Tootsie’s Tea is an Indigenous, Hispanic & Woman-owned tea business located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin founded by Lizz Tsosie Stachura. Specializing in small-batch loose leaf blends, we proudly handcraft mesmerizing teas made with high-quality ingredients that are both flavorful & visually stunning.
OUR PURPOSE
We currently donate 10% of our profits in the form of tea contributions, along with 5% of our profits in monetary donations to nonprofits & community programs. Additionally, 100% of our vintage tea accessory profits are also donated to support these efforts.
OUR INGREDIENTS
Unlike single-ingredient teas or coffee, which typically come from one location, our blends can feature ingredients from all over the world! Think Japanese Sencha, New Mexican Hatch Chiles, Egyptian Hibiscus, etc! At the same time, we stay rooted in our community by sourcing locally as much as possible while even growing many of our own fresh herbs & botanicals right here in Milwaukee.
MINDFUL SOURCING
When you buy Tootsie’s Tea, you’re not just supporting us, but a whole community! We believe every ingredient tells a story, which is why we choose to work with small farms, urban gardens & family-owned businesses. This allows us to prioritize sustainable, organic & ethical practices, while partnering with people who pour their hearts into what they do.
TRADITIONAL HARVESTING
At Tootsie's Tea we honor traditional harvesting practices, by asking for permission & expressing gratitude to the land & its offerings. We especially support indigenous growers knowing that they harvest with the same intention & values.
ROOTED IN HERITAGE
Lizz’s vibrant culture is the beating heart of Tootsie’s Tea. From the Lenca people of Honduras and the Diné, the stories of her roots are filled with hardship, strength, beauty & love. She carries those stories forward through the art of tea. Crafting each blend with intention, offering comfort & connection to all who drink it.
NAME ORIGIN
Contrary to popular belief, 'Tootsie' isn't a nickname but a frequent mispronunciation of Lizz's maiden name, Tsosie (pronounced 'So-see'), which is Navajo.
